Vertebral Compression Fracture in Cushing′s Syndrome with Adrenal Adenoma

|
The following case describes the presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of a 32-year-old woman with amenorrhea, back pain in the lumbar spine, and lower extremity edema. The patient was determined to have 2nd lumbar vertebral compression fractures, bilateral lower extremity edema of unknown origin, and severe osteoporosis. After consulting several specialists to determine the cause of the patient′s osteoporosis, an adrenal incidentaloma was found and Cushing′s syndrome was diagnosed. Treatment consisted of an adrenalectomy, physical therapy, and medication to prevent the progression of osteoporosis.
